Bio-Inspired Design-- Enabling technologies in the life and materials sciences conference will be held on the Mississippi State University campus August 19-22, 2008. This conference seeks to attract those individuals, from across the region and the nation, working at the interface between the life and materials sciences. There has been a tremendous growth of interdisciplinary efforts focused toward the advancement of technologies beyond current capabilities that could bridge life and materials sciences through Bio-Inspired Designs.
We invite speakers and attendees that are interested in research at the intersection
of biology and engineering to join us for this conference. Sessions may include but are not limited to:
• Patterns in Nature
• Functional Biomimetics
• Structural Biomimetics
• Systems Biomimetics
• Biomimicry in Technology Development
Mississippi State University's strong history in the life sciences, engineering and technological infrastructure with its core facilities contributing to the interdisciplinary enterprise along with a centralized location in the southern region make it an ideal location for this symposium. Invited speakers and session chairs are recognized leaders in the life and materials sciences that transcend the Bio-Inspired Design concept. This conference will be a venue for the sharing of ideas, will serve as a catalyst for new collaborations between life scientists and engineers, and will foster the development of innovative Bio-Inspired engineered designs.
